Newsletter #11
Fall team practice is complete and we enter
our post fall practice workouts with excitement. The seven weekend fall practice session was
an important time as a new recruiting class found its way around campus and
returning players worked to improve. The
fall was highlighted by a game against Colorado Mesa in which Utah Valley outscored
the Division II powerhouse 25-8 over the course of an 18 inning game. There are several exciting events going on in
the program as we go forward.

Camps Offered in December and January
Players have the opportunity to participate
in camps this December and January using the facilities of the Utah Valley
Baseball Program. December 3 will be the
Saturday that the annual hitting, pitching, and catching camp is hosted at Utah
Valley which provides a day of skill instruction by the Utah Valley coaching
staff. Saturday, January 14 a winter
prospect camp is being held to give players interested in pursuing baseball at
the college level an experience on a college campus and playing in front of college
coaches. Registration is available at www.UVUBaseballCamps.com.
Black
Squad Sweeps Wolverine World Series
The last two days of our Fall team practice
period were dedicated to our Wolverine World Series in which the team was
divided in to a Black and Green Squad to face off for a best of 3 series. The series was managed and coached entirely
by the players and provided great competition.
Black Squad, managed by senior Brandon Luna, swept the series with an
8-5 win in Game 1 and held on for a 4-3 victory in Game 2. The Black Squad was rewarded with a meal served
by the Green Squad for their victory.
Former
Major Leaguer and World Series Hero Brandon Guyer to Assist Team With Mental
Skills Development
Seven year Major Leaguer and 2016 American
League Champion Brandon Guyer has worked with the Wolverines to maximize the
mental skills in the team. Major League Mindset
is an idea that Guyer has transformed in to a reality as he works with college and
professional teams and players from throughout the country in search of peak
performance. The team has participated
in zoom calls with Guyer this fall which will continue in to the Spring.
We hope that you can join us for one of the
many great events we have going on this fall!
