Hello Wolverine Fans!

We are hopeful that your holidays have been filled with fun, friends, family, and food!  With New Year’s Day approaching, it means one thing:  Soon the team will back at it with the start of Spring Semester!   There is always great excitement about the upcoming season during this time of year and this season is no different.  We are excited about our February 17 Opening Day game at UC Davis and several other exciting things that are going on around the program!

2023 Schedule Release

The full 2023 schedule has been released and is an exciting slate highlighted by a program record 26 home games!  31 total games will be played in the state of Utah including a 3-game series at Utah Tech and non conference away games at BYU and Utah.  BYU and Utah will both visit UCCU Ballpark twice to culminate 3 game sets with each in-state non conference foe.

The season will begin in California with 8 games in 9 days split between UC Davis and UC Riverside.  Non conference play continues with a 4-game series at Portland and a 4-game home series with Lehigh.  WAC play begins March 17 at Seattle and features trips to Sacramento State, Sam Houston State, Utah Tech, and UT Arlington.

There will be five home conference series beginning March 24 with Tarleton and continuing with hosting Grand Canyon, UT Rio Grande Valley, Stephen F. Austin, and New Mexico State.  Midweek home games include contests with Washington State, Northwest Nazarene, and a non-conference game with Utah Tech.  We hope you can all make it out to the ballpark!

Winter Camp Offered in January

High School and transfer players have the opportunity to join our coaches for our prospect camp Saturday, January 14.  The camp will feature a workout, instruction, and a game.  The intention of the camp is to provide an experience on a college campus playing in front of college coaches for players interested in pursuing baseball at the college level. Registration is available at www.UVUBaseballCamps.com.

Bach and Scudder Crowned Winning Wolverine Champions

Throughout November and December the team barked in the annual Winning Wolverine Challenge.  It is a grueling series of competitions that include physical challenges such as push up contests, sled pulls, wall sits, and concludes with the famed Winning Wolverine Obstacle Course.  The challenge tests every player in the program and is designed to push players outside of their comfort zone.  Each challenge is worth points for the winner and high finishers.

In the end, the position player and pitcher with the most points are named the Winning Wolverine Champions.  Not only do they get the unique honor of respect among their teammates for their performance, the champions have their names enshrined in our locker room with past champions.  This season Nate Bach and Cameron Scudder won the Winning Wolverine Challenge.

2023 Roster Solidified

The 2023 Utah Valley Baseball roster is now available here.  The team features 25 new players and 34 players that are in either their first or second season with the program.

The roster is geographically diverse with 9 players hailing from Utah, 8 from California, 7 from Arizona, and 5 from Washington.  There are a pair of players from Indiana and a pair from Texas.  Players from Alabama, Colorado, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are also on the roster.

As is the nature of college baseball in the post-COVID era, the roster is very mature.  There are 27 players in their third and fourth seasons of eligibility.  4 players are in their second season of eligibility and there are 8 true freshman on the team.
