Newsletter #3
Hello Wolverine Fans!
We have just finished our fall season and are transitioning
to the post fall practice workout time.
It has been an exciting time for the program and we are now less than four
months from Opening Day! Here is a look
at what’s going on in the Utah Valley Baseball program
Fall Practice Recap
Our fall team practice was a great success. We started with 50 players competing to establish
their roles on the team. With coaching
change comes a clean slate where every player gets to make a new first
impression and these players did a great job of putting forth their best
efforts to solidify their role on the team.
We had a total of 12 intersquad scrimmages and two outside
competitions. The outside competitions were
a chance for us to use many line up combinations and give several pitchers the
invaluable opportunity to pitch against another team. Most importantly, the focus all fall has been
developing winners. We were excited to
see this winning mindset in our players pay off with wins against USU Eastern
and Salt Lake Community College in our dates against outside competition this
fall. Below is a list of statistical
leaders from the fall and statistics from our two games.
Roster Published
We end the fall with 35 players on our roster and a few more
players still working to earn a spot on the roster for the spring. The roster is made up of 18 returning players
and 17 newcomers. The current roster can
be found on this link: UTAH
VALLEY 2022 ROSTER.
Recruiting
Our staff has been amplifying the recruiting efforts during
the NCAA fall recruiting period.
Recruiting Coordinator Nate Rasmussen has been circling the map working
to build the future of Utah Valley Baseball.
We are excited about our 2022 high school class as well as some
transfers we will be bringing in to our program.
Camps
We have a few great opportunities ahead for camps. Their descriptions are below and registration
can be found at gouvu.com/bsbcamps.
-October 23 – Prospect Camp – This is an opportunity for players
to participate in a workout and a game in front of the coaches at Utah Valley
-November 12 & 13 – Infield Camp Featuring San Francisco
Giants Bench Coach Kainoa Correa – This camp will be based in skill instruction
for infielders led by world renowned infield coach Kainoa Correa.
Upcoming
Between now and finals, our players will enter a period
dedicated to their development in strength, speed, skill and toughness. This is an important time of year for us to
improve and gain an edge.
We will also enter in to our Winning Wolverine
Challenge. This is a series of
competitions where points are awarded to winners of the competitions and
accumulated over the next six weeks. Our
fall will conclude with the Winning Wolverine Obstacle Course and the pitcher and
position player who accumulate the most points throughout the Challenge will be
enshrined as our first Winning Wolverines.
This is a great way for our players to grow physically and in their
mentality as we work to further instill our focus on WINNING!
Go Wolverines!
